A lot has happened since the last update! But most importantly, the Lagomarsino Lab has two new members. Janet Mansaray is finishing the first semester of her PhD at LSU after completing an internship at the Morris Aboretum in Philadelphia. More recently, Laura Frost started in the lab in December as a postdoctoral researcher. She just finished her PhD with Dick Olmstead at University of Washington. We're excited to have more than one other person in the lab!
December 4, 2018 Fall 2018: The semester with all the travel
Laura had a busy semester of travel! She attended two international conferences, Evolution in Montpellier, France and the Congreso Latinoamericano de Botánica in Quito, Ecuador (where she gave two invited talks and was awarded a Pan-American Scholar Award from the Botanical Society of America), visited the French National Museum of Natural History in Paris, was lucky enough to visit the Oak Springs Foundation in Upperville, VA twice, once a guest lecturer for the eFlower course and again as a BCoN workshop participant, and presented seminars at University of Florida, Mississippi State University, and Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Garden.
October 10, 2017 An exciting day for the lab!
Lab set up is chugging along, slowly but surely. The first of our fancy new Rainin pipettes came today, to complement the 26 boxes of tips that came yesterday. The clean-up of our space is nearly complete, and we getting ready to finally settle in. We are thankful to our colleague, Brant Faircloth, for letting us use his lab space so we can go about generating our first round of data while we're still moving in. Stay tuned for before and after photos!
